Application Procedure
To assure the best results, the parts to be treated should be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, oils, and grease with an appropriate cleaning solution prior to treatment with Weld Wizard 9350 solution.
All equipment, mixers, tanks and pumps should be clean and dry prior to mixing of Weld Wizard solution. Weld Wizard 9350 should be mixed with clean water (purified water if desired) at a ratio of 1 part of Weld Wizard 9350 with 9 parts of water by volume to fill the tank or pipe system used so as to adequately cover all parts or surfaces to be treated. Polypropylene, stainless steel, or equivalent should be used for the construction of all tanks and devices used with the Weld Wizard solution. For parts, agitation of the solution in the tank is recommended to attain optimum results. Optimum results can be obtained with many parts by using the Weld Wizard in an ultrasonic tank.
Heat the solution for optimum performance. 120-160°F is typical. Room temperature is often adequate with increased flow or immersion time. Teflon-coated (or equivalent), stainless steel, or titanium heating devices are recommended.
Flush the solution through the pipe system or completely immerse the parts in the solution for a period sufficient to remove weld discolorations and other scale from the surface. This may be 30 to 45 minutes at room temperature, or as much as several hours, depending on the severity of the discoloration.
If the discoloration is severe enough that the Weld Wizard 9350 only removes it partially, then other products, such as Weld Wizard 9700 or Weld Wizard 9003, may be used instead to achieve the desired results.
Rinse the pipe system or parts thoroughly with clean water and dry completely in air or proceed with other treatments (e.g., passivation using CitriSurf 2050 or CitriSurf 2250) to obtain the desired results. Drying can be accelerated by the use of a hot air blower (i.e. hair dryer), a clean cloth, or other drying medium. Repeat the process if needed to obtain the desired results.
Notes on Use
Although very safe in normal use, Weld Wizard 9350 is a Sulfonic Acid-based material, and as such, it may cause irritation to exposed surfaces of the body. See the Safety Data Sheet before using this material.
Maintenance
Replenish the bath with Weld Wizard and water as appropriate to compensate for dragout, evaporation, and acid consumption. The pH of the Weld Wizard 9350 passivation bath should be held to within +0.1 of its initial value for normal operation.
Disposal
Dispose of according to all federal, state, and local regulations.
Storage
Weld Wizard 9350 should be stored at temperatures between 50°F and 90°F in 316 stainless steel or approved plastic containers (polyethylene or polypropylene).
